Ruislip-Northwood Conservative Association
The Conservative Party is represented in the constituency of Ruislip Northwood by the Ruislip-Northwood Conservative Association.

Our main purposes are to put forward  Conservative candidates at elections, to help run their election campaigns, to support Conservative representatives in their work between elections, and to raise funds to do all this.  (Apart from a free postal delivery in general and European elections, there is no central funding, all political parties have to pay their own costs at elections).

Candidates

The Association, through its local branches, selects candidates to stand in Council elections for the London Borough of Hillingdon. The Association also selects the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency.  In both cases, candidates are approved at a General Meeting at which all branch or Association members are entitled to vote.  In the case of a new Parliamentary candidate, the final choice is made by a vote of members at a General Meeting.

The Association and/or its members also have a voice in the selection of candidates for the London Mayor, the Greater London Authority, and the European Parliament.

Elections and Campaigning

It's not just electioneering - to keep contact with local people, we publish and deliver literature and information to every house during the year, as well as being alert to local issues as they arise, and calling on local residents.

During election campaigns, there's always plenty of  literature to deliver , as well as talking to electors on the doorstep or by phone.

Fundraising

All this takes money, and funds are raised through members' subscriptions, through draws and raffles, coffee mornings and other social events, dinners, bazaars, quiz suppers and so on and so on.  We always need more helpers and venues.

Organisation and branches

The Association, which has officers (Chairman, President, Treasurer etc.) elected by members at the AGM, is the umbrella organisation for the branches which operate at ward level.  Most of our helpers work voluntarily within their own branch organisation, and also help at Association level.

Members and helpers

All this is done by local residents who broadly support Conservative principles and help perhaps financially by paying a subscription, currently £15 per year, or perhaps by offering to deliver literature, or help with social or political activities, or call on people on the doorstep, or address envelopes, or whatever else is needed.  If you are interested in supporting local democracy in any of these ways through the Conservatives, please e-mail us here or phone 01923 822876.
